Let’s chat about Foundation

Okay, so makeup is a huge topic and there are so many amazing brands to try! How do you choose?

Let’s start with foundation. Pretty much every woman has bought foundation (probably several different brands over the years). How do you pick a good Foundation?

Here’s my checklist:

  • Is it safe/healthy for my skin?
  • Does it match my skin tone and blend in well?
  • Does it cover my acne, blemishes, and dark spots?
  • Long term – does it make me breakout or does it make my skin better?

Most foundations bought at a supermarket or mall are not great for your skin. Trust me I have tried the big brands like Clinique, Estee Lauder, MAC, Lancome, and more! So first these are all pricy! Ranging around the $40-$70 range for 1 bottle and typically lasting 3 ish months. This adds up so much over the course of years! So, what’s my solution?

I have two brands that I love and highly recommend. 1. Younique, 2. SeneGence.

SeneGence foundation is a skin treatment in itself. It improves the condition of your skin, looks amazing and blends so well that most ladies can wear up to 3 different shades! Now that is truly amazing. Color matching is so easy, and the foundation is healthy and improves skin. The only downside for me is that if you suffer from acne, rosacea, etc. It doesn’t have super heavy coverage so you have to apply multiple layers. This foundation has two options regular, and anti-aging, and one bottle lasts 3 to 6 months depending on coverage application.

Younique is a mineral based foundation that is also great for your skin, but also great for coverage! They have a liquid, powder, and cream foundation as well as BB cream so there are lots of options for different skin types. My personal go to is the liquid touch foundation in the color Scarlet. I highly recommend this foundation as it goes on smooth, makes your skin feel incredibly soft, and looks fantastic! It’s a little cheaper than SeneGence and lasts about the same amount of time!

With any foundation I also highly recommend a primer (pro-tip, let your primer dry for 2 to 5 minutes before applying foundation to get the best results). I also recommend a good concealer if you have acne, rosacea, or dark spots. Younique has both of these products and they are all mineral based, not tested on animal, and great for your skin!
